Hello friends! Thank you for stopping by to check this out! I have done this activity a couple of times with my girls and I absolutely love it. It only requires a couple of materials and it is so easy to set up. It has been almost a year since the first time we did this activity and it was still a great time!
Materials for taste safe finger paints
- Plain yogurt
- Food coloring
That’s it ! Only 3 ingredients to make this amazing finger paint. The first time I did this activity I used plain yogurt, but the second time the only thing I had was light pink yogurt and it still worked.
How to make taste safe finger paints
- Add 2-3 scoops of yogurt into each bowl.
- Add a couple drops of food coloring in each bowl and mix!
Again, that’s it! It really is that simple.

There are many ways to do this activity. You can go outside and lay down paper or plastic in your grass and let your baby or toddler go to town. Let them paint their bodies, paint the paper or the grass. Then hose them down! You can also do this activity indoors. The first time we did this activity I laid down a combination of paper and doggy pee pee pads. YUP, I did that! I simply laid down the bowls and let my girls paint whatever!
Check out this cute video from 1 year ago!
I know what you’re thinking. What a MESS!! I know it was, but it was so much fun to watch them interact with each other, play and have fun. It was nothing to throw them in the bath right after. Messy play is super beneficial for babies and toddlers so I always encourage this type of play.
We recently did this activity again but I tried to contain the mess by using a large container. I laid down paper inside the container and told them to keep the paint inside the container. Now that they are a bit older it was much more controlled.
This time we were able to practice drawing letters, shapes and numbers! My oldest also enjoyed licking the yogurt off her fingers. I hope you all enjoyed this post.
